G-STIC 2018 Challenges

The G-STIC 2018 Challenges are launched to encourage students, researchers, start-ups and SMEs worldwide to come up with innovative ideas on new technological solutions and business concepts that hold great potential for achieving the SDGs.

The G-STIC 2018 Challenges provide you with a unique opportunity to join the dialogue on technologies for the SDGs:

·        Improve your pitching skills and interact with other participants.

·        Have your video pitch displayed at the G-STIC 2018 conference.

·        Meet with experts during the conference, and contribute to G-STIC’s goal to accelerate global action on technology development and deployment.

All winners will be invited to participate in the G-STIC 2018 Conference, free of charge. The winners of the Student & Research Challenges will be asked to present their idea in the solicited thematic session. The winner of the Start-up & SME Challenge will be offered a free booth at the G-STIC 2018 Exhibition.

If you have an innovation that is a workable solution for SDGs, especially those focused on one of the below 5 SDGs, submit your innovation for consideration today.

·        Goal 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

·        Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

·        Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

·        Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

The selected innovators will be invited to participate in the STI Forum 2018 at UN Headquarters in New York on June 5 and 6. At the Forum you will have the chance to present your innovation and connect with a valuable network - other innovators, those who can support or scale up your innovations, and those seeking to utilize such innovations.

Additionally, all innovators who respond to the Call can benefit from being featured on Global Innovation Exchange (GIE):

1.    The Call uses GIE’s innovation profile as applications. These innovation profiles help you share your innovation’s accomplishments and milestones, making it easier to tell the innovation’s story.

2.    Your innovation profiles will be featured on GIE indefinitely helping you with fundraising and securing other support to scale your innovation.

3.    You can find open funding opportunities that suit your innovation.
