Fully Funded Obama Foundation Scholarships 2019

Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University provides a one-year academic experience to individuals who are innovative, dynamic, collaborative and rising leaders in different sectors globally. The Foundation aims to provide a platform for young leaders around the world to acquire more skills which will help them make a difference in their communities. The program curriculum is designed to involve academics, skills-based training and hands-on or practical learning.

The Scholars Program believes that, empowering individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge will help them come up with innovative solutions to complex global problems.

The program will make sure scholars go to give back to their communities. The scholars will form an alumni network of the Obama Foundation and will transfer the acquired skills to train and mentor others in their communities.


The Obama Foundation Scholars  Program will provide;

§ Tuition fees

§  Monthly living stipend while in New York City

§  Accommodation in a furnished studio apartment near Columbia University

§  Health insurance (Basic medical, dental and life insurance) for the period of the scholarship

§  Travel cost (to and from home country) and for any program-related activities

§ Leadership development costs


Applicants for the Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University must meet the following criteria;

§  Demonstrate a commitment to service and leadership within your community, region or country outside the United States.

§  Be commitment to return to your commununity after completion of the program.

§  Emerging leaders in their filed and have made meaningful contributions.

§ Fluent in English


Applications are completed and submitted online. The application should include following documents;

§  Curriculum vitae showing employment and educational history, awards, publications or other achievements received.

§  The personal video statement which should not be longer than 5 minutes in length.

§  Responses to theshort essay questions which will help the selection committee to understand your work, motivation and how the program fits into their career aspirations.

§  Proof of proficiency in English language is required from applicants whose native language is not English. You will be required to submit official exam scores for TOEFL, IELTS or PTE Academic.

§  Submit 2 letters of recommendation from previous studies academic supervisors, professional or community service individuals who know you better.


Applicants should be submitted at 11:59pm EST 3rd February 2019
